NASHVILLE – Kenya’s Sylvester Chebii, 26, won the ninth annual Country Music Marathon today in a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes, 27 seconds. In the women’s race, Svetlana Ponomarenko, 38, from Russia outkicked defending champion Olena Shurkhno, 30, from the Ukraine, finishing in 2:30:33.

BOSTON — Robert Cheruiyot won the 112th Boston Marathon today in a time of 2:07:46, earning him his fourth Boston Marathon victory and third in a row. Dire Tune outkicked Alevtina Biktimirova after a back-and-forth last mile to win by 2 seconds in the closest finish in the history of the women’s race.
