According to the publication LA Business, McCourt has created a company called “Going The Distance” to organize the marathon. The rights to the event were purchased from Chicago-based Devine Racing, which owed the city of Los Angeles about $500,000, according to the reports.
The other big change in the marathon is a shift to a permanent date – President’s Day, which is on a Monday. In years past, the race was always held on a Sunday.
Devine Racing which owned both the Los Angles Marathon and the Las Vegas Marathon rant into financial trouble earlier this year and was forced to sell the two races.
