NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Organizers of the Country Music Marathon announced today that Dane Patterson, a season seven contestant on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser: Couples,” plans to run the 2009 Country Music Marathon next month in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Patterson’s recent attempt to complete a full marathon after being eliminated from the show caused controversy when it aired during a “Where Are They Now?” segment on “The Biggest Loser: Couples.”
Trouble began for Patterson after attempting to run a full marathon earlier this year at the Arizona Desert Classic Marathon, only to accept a ride from TV producers who were trying to help him finish the marathon under the race’s six-hour time limit. He had been trying to run the marathon in “seven to eight hours”. After the van moved him forward, he crossed the finish-line and was awarded a finisher’s medal. To make things worse, when NBC aired a segment on his run, text indicated that he had completed the race in “3:53″ rather than “5:53″ as the finish-clock showed on screen. This lead to a raft of complaints from other runners that had seen the van-lifting and knew that the time wasn’t possible. Read more about Patterson’s previous run, by clicking here.
