San Diego, CA ––The 2010 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & ½ Marathon will be run on a new marathon course, according to event organizers who unveiled the new course today. The new route will see big changes, with most of the last nine miles running along the Mission Bay waterfront and new finish at the SeaWorld theme park. The event will now offer a half-marathon distance for the first time as well as a marathon relay.
The race will be held Sunday, June 6, 2010 and will include a short stretch through PETCO Park, which is San Diego’s Major League Baseball stadium, and will ultimately finish at the SeaWorld theme park.
“We are excited about partnering with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon this year,” said Andy Fichthorn, General Manager of SeaWorld. “Having San Diego’s premier running event finish at SeaWorld, the city’s premier tourist attraction, is a perfect fit.”
A new “Finish Line Festival” at SeaWorld will be hosted at SeaWorld, allowing friends and families to see the park before watching see their loved ones cross the finish line, according to event organizers. There will also be an exclusive marathon kickoff party at SeaWorld for Rock ‘n’ Roll runners on Friday night, June 4.
